Questions & Answers for Franklin Electronics KJV/NIV Franklin Electronic Bible with Holman Bible Dictionary

Question

Franklin Electronic Bible

I was looking at the Franklin Electronic Bible comments and I was just wondering if you can use rechargeable batteries in it and also, can you still see the writing when the backlight goes out just in case you're at church and the light goes out.

I would assume you can use the rechargeable batteries, but not 100% sure. The backlight is a great function, but only stays on for a short period; but you can click it back on as needed. However, you can easily see the wording without the light. I often don't realize the light has gone out and just use it without the light in a normally lighted room.

Not sure about rechargable battries, but that should not be a big concern. I use it all the time without the backlight. I rarely if ever use the backlight, so that should not be a concern either. If the light times out, all you have to do is push the button to turn it on again.

Juanita: yes, it works just fine with two AAA rechargeables; you can see the text without the backlight if the ambient light is bright enough; if not, press the light button for 30 seconds of backlight; it is quite unobtrusive and will not disturb others at church, and the button can be pressed again as many times as required.

Yes you can still read the words if the backlight is out, but it can be difficult if the lighting where you are is not very good.

We do not use rechargable batteries yet. We have had no trouble with reading the writing in church. We have only had the Franklin a short time, couple days short of three weeks.

For the first question the answer is yes, as long as you put the same size batteries in it. For your next question; it all depends on how lit the church is. You can always push the backlight again if the church is too dark.

The closed unit is 3.5 x 5 3/8 which opened makes it 6.5 x 5 3/8 (the hinge keeps the 3.5 dimension from doubling. It weighs less than a pound - it's so light it doesn't register on my scale. It is comparable to a small pocketBible. It is negligible. Lightweight but durable
