It's 1914 and it's Czarist Russia. Karena Peshkova has big dreams of becoming a student at the Imperial College of Medicine and Midwifery and then following her mother's footsteps to becoming a midwife. While on a visit to see her cousin, Tatiana, she meets Colonel Aleksandr Kronstadt and the attraction is immediate. Although they both know neither can act on it, Alex comes to her rescue when she's accused of being part of the Bolshevik conspiracy. Alex is willing to risk everything for Karena, but will this be enough to save her life?
