David's parents named him for Israel's greatest king, but their son grows up to be nothing like his royal namesake. After insulting his kind and generous father, David leaves home with his inheritance. Only when he he's lost it all does he seek the company of Samantha, the town's "fallen" woman. Even there, however, he knows no peace, no satisfaction. Still searching, he eventually finds what he's been longing for. And while Samantha's life is being transformed at a well, David's is redeemed in a pigpen.
