Publisher's Description

Christian etiquette expert June Hines Moore will improve the quality of life in homes everywhere with Manners Made Easy for the Family. This quintessential page-per-day guide to good manners presents 365 rules–just one or two sentences each–followed by a family application or practice point and example or instruction from the Bible. Parents and children can read and discuss each manner at breakfast or dinner for an entire year, learning about everything from table manners and telephone etiquette to proper church behavior and online “netiquette.” There’s even a helpful index for quick reference and for whenever questions about specific situations arise.

Synopsis

Set up like a daily devotional, this book will provide mothers, fathers, and family members with a user-friendly resource to implement in the quest to encourage good manners in their home – and in life – on a daily basis. There is a reason for every rule of etiquette. Each day’s entry in the book will provide the rule, the reason for the rule, tips for applying the rule in the family, and a biblical reference for each rule of proper conduct. There will be five entries a week, designated Monday through Friday, so that families can read together daily at mealtime, during or after family devotions, or during school time. Simple daily manners instruction coupled with appropriate biblical applications will be a powerful tool to put into the hands of parents who need help with manners instruction for their children.

Publisher's Notes

Educational experts tell us that one of the major reasons parents today are willing to pay the price to homeschool or invest in a private education is the development of good manners in their children. As June says, “Since the youth revolution in the 1960s, many people in our society have increasingly sought personal gratification without regard for the needs of others. We see road rage, airport rage, and other generally outrageous acts all around us. We find ourselves living in an increasingly hectic world, and many of us lament the decline in good manners in our society, even among Christians. Our young people need a Christian-based guide to steer them into ‘loving others as they love themselves’ (Matthew 19:19) and feel blessed as they do it.” The disconnect often occurs with parents who themselves do not know what constitutes “good manners.” How can they teach and model what they do not know? Because of the great manners vacuum in our society and the desire of Christian parents to fill that vacuum in the lives of their children, we believe parents will eagerly purchase this volume as they have Manners Made Easy.
