I think it is leans toward a middle of the road viewpoint. I don't think it is really denominational but it isn't real conservative or real fundamentalism. It is thought provoking regardless of where you stand. So far as I have read there has been some good historical information. I enjoyed the chapter on how we got the Bible, however I didn't see any reference to the manuscripts from which the King James Version came from but mention of some of the other manuscripts for the newer translations came from which I feel excluded a very important tenant for me. (Textus Receptis )Sp? Otherwise I think it is fair to evangelicalism.
My opinion only.

answer 3
It provides different views on the doctrines, but not from a denominational perspective. It does provide and overview of church history with more attention to the church after 1950, including a section on Pentacostalism. Of course, your questions is somewhat loaded in the sense that Pentecostals and Baptists fall under the guise of Protestantism; understanding, or course, their are doctrinal differences. Nonetheless, the book does a good job of keeping excluding the authors point of view on matters. It simply is, as promoted, an overview of some biblical and theological matters.
