Product Description

Do you believe God can be found in both the miraculous and the mundane? Through 40 insightful and engaging essays, Tim Schenck helps us encounter God through the chaos of everyday life. The divine presence weaves its way into a family room fish tank, a child's probing questions, the town pool, and the drive-thru window of the local fast food chain.

Author/Artist Review

Author: Tim Schenck
Located in: Briarcliff Manor, New York

Tell us a little about yourself.  I’m an Episcopal priest, writer, husband to Bryna, and dad to Benedict (9) and Zachary (7). I’m currently the pastor of All Saints’ Church in Briarcliff Manor, New York, where we live in the church rectory with our dog Delilah. No stereotypical clergy "stained glass lifestyle" in our house -- just lots of domestic chaos!

What was your motivation behind this project?  I got tired of reading books on spirituality that assume you have three hours a day to wander around the woods in silence. For most of us, especially those with kids, that’s simply not happening. I wanted to share some of my own experiences to inspire others and so the book was written to help people see that God does indeed exist in the midst of domestic chaos. We just need to open our eyes and keep our sense of humor intact.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  The book consists of 40 accessible, humorous, and inspirational essays and I share a lot of my own experiences. So while it’s highly personal, they are things everyone who’s ever had kids can relate to like arguing about stopping for a McDonald’s Happy Meal or trudging through an airport feeling like a pack mule or nagging kids to write thank you notes. The idea is that people can gain insights into their own lives through the craziness of my own.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Coffee, my kids, and God. That's pretty much the source of all the inspiration in my life. Which isn't a bad place out of which to write!
