Westminster John Knox Press Library of Christian Classics - Advocates of Reform: From Wyclif to Erasmus

The Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century is often known as The Reformation, however this reform did not come out of no where and certainly did not begin with John Calvin and Martin Luther. This volume of The Library of Christian Classics series includes works from the fourteenth through sixteenth centuries of men who saw the desperate need for reform in the Church. Advocates of Reform include writers such as John Wyclif, John Major, John Hus, and Desiderius Erasmus. All these authors had differing areas of concern of the ills within the Church but they all agreed that things had to change. This is only a partial telling of this time period to give English readers a peek into the reformations before The Reformation.

The Library of Christian Classics has long been acclaimed for its quality translations, introductions, explanatory notes, and indexes. The series ensures that modern English translations of some of the most significant Christian theological works written before the end of the sixteenth century are available for scholars and students, allowing contemporary readers to mine the theological riches of the Christian church though the centuries.
