Five church ladies struggle to make it through all the hubbub of the holidays, and one or two almost have nervous breakdowns, but thanks to Beckythe single woman of the groupthey are all in for a big surprise: A Jamaican holiday! The only problem is the timing: they will be away from their families for the entire Christmas holiday. They are eager to go but are they being selfish? Will their families make it without them? Or will they return to chaos? They meet a man on the beach who seems perfect for Becky, but is he really a con artist? They all have different reasons, but in the end, this vacation is the perfect solution for the problems they face. Even the elderly matron whos condemned them for abandoning their family finds that a vacation is just what she needs.
Though it was a little hard to get into at first, after a few chapters I was so involved in book that I didnt want to put it down! Its quite a humorous tale. Snoring roomies, a mouse, cramped quarters, wardrobe malfunction, lost luggage, and a stranger on the beach, will make you laugh yourself silly. The antics of the ladies will remind you of yourself and your friends. Id especially recommend this book to young mothers, but singles will enjoy it too. DiGiovanni has written an impressive work in this book, and readers will also enjoy her series geared toward moms called The Motherhood Club. Amanda Kimmel, Christian Book Previews.com
