Questions & Answers for Zondervan Africa Bible Commentary: A One-Volume Commentary Written by 70 African Scholars Updated Edition

Question

Do the contributors employ a consistently literal hermeneutic to arrive at their results?

Having an outside the box commentary is only as valuable as the foundational hermeneutic behind it. Do the contributors stay true to the text or wander off into speculation about things the text doesn't reveal? My interest in this commentary is genuine but I can only spend money for something that can be proved from scripture by other supporting scripture. Thanks.

The commentary uses standard exegetical methodology, and all contributors are seminary professors from Africa. Contributors are interdenominational and so represent a variety of perspectives theologically. It has been endorsed by notable western scholars such as John Stott and Rick Warren.
