Product Description

A daily serving of spiritual nourishment for your whole family

Between sports practice, music lessons, and homework, we can feel like our days pass by without ever really talking with each other about the most important matters of life and faith. This family devotional by popular author and mom Nancy Guthrie serves up a year's worth of daily truths from God's Word to chew on and apply to real life. Going beyond Bible stories, your whole family will enjoy discussing biblical words and themes at a level kids from 5 to 95 will understand and relate to.

Each day's devotion includes:

  • several scriptures on the day's theme to read together
  • a brief devotion that gets everyone thinking and talking
  • discussion starter questions to engage even the youngest and most reluctant participants
Transform family devotions from a dry lecture into a dynamic conversation around your family dinner table as you draw closer to each other, and closer to God himself.

Publisher's Description

Getting the kids to turn off the TV and video games is challenge enough—let alone gathering as a family to read and discuss the Bible! One Year of Dinner Table Devotions & Discussion Starters helps families start where they are already gathered together on a daily basis—around the dinner table. As the meal comes to a close, family members can take turns turning to the dinner-table devotion for that day, designed to be done together as a family in 10 to 15 minutes. The result is a meaningful daily discussion in which every family member can participate, drawing the whole family closer to God . . . and each other.

Author Bio

In burying two of her three children, Nancy Guthrie has endured the kind of loss most of us hope we never have to face. Yet her hope has not dimmed. Those who have watched Nancy and David Guthrie walk through the loss of two infant children, and the millions who have read their story worldwide in TIME Magazine and USA Today, have wondered at their ability to emerge from such sorrow with joy for life and passion for God. In reality, this deep place of pain caused Nancy to dig into the scriptures like she never had before, looking for answers to her questions and a deeper relationship to God.

She offered many of the lessons she learned from this sorrowful experience in her books, Holding On to Hope: A Pathway of Suffering to the Heart of God and The One Year Book of Hope which helped thousands of people pursue God in the midst of their suffering. A third book, Hoping for Something Better: Refusing to Settle for Life as Usual, provides readers and small groups with a 10-week journey through the book of Hebrews and includes study questions for a weekly discussion.

In addition to her international teaching ministry, Nancy has worked in the Christian publishing industry for over twenty years as a publicist and special project editor. She, her husband, David, and son, Matt, make their home in Nashville, Tennessee, where they attend Christ Presbyterian Church (Presbyterian Church in America).
