YES!!!! You need to read the first book first or you will be lost!!!! It's good though, so it won't take you long, just might miss out on some sleep because you won't be able to put it down. :)

Yes please start with book one I think it would be harder to understand who everyone is without the first book.They are both great books.

The Thunder of Heaven is book one or a series. What I understand from the authors is it is only going to be a 3 maybe 4 book series not twelve like Left Behind.

Yes I recommend that you read book one first as it gives you a good back ground for the main characters.

I definitely would start with book 1. I've read both and the first book introduces the characters and gives background. There is a bit of review in book 2 but I suggest starting at the beginning.
