In my group we get pretty in depth and use the material often as a leaping off point to any number of related issues. As well, we all try to share personally, so we don't ever finish the sessions in 1 evening. None the less, I would say that if you wanted to get through it well, you need to give yourself a couple of hours, and be prepared to skip over some questions for the sake of brevity. The DVD sessions are about 20 minutes or less in length but that's a guess. I have not ever timed it.

for the sake of saving money, we did not get the books so we have been using the workbooks and the DVD only. Not having read the book, I'm not sure what we are missing, but I have no felt need of it.

They must have the books. We, as leaders, bought the workbook and will adapt it to our group. It seems a little pricey as well as alot to ask of a group member to have both.

The book and workbook are recommended resources for use with this study. The workbook cannot be used without the book.
