Customer Questions & Answers for
Westminster John Knox Press From the Reformation to the Present Readings in the History of Christian Theology, Vol. 2

In Readings in the History of Christian Theology, Volume 2, William C. Placher begins with a decisive transition, the Reformation of the sixteenth century, and opens with an exerpt from Martin Luther's The Freedom of a Christian. From the sixteenth century into the twentieth, he presents significant selections from works of the principal Protestant and Catholic thinkers, including present-day writers such as Gustavo Gutierrez and Rosemary Radford Ruether. Quoted passages are accompanied by Placher's illuminating introductions. The volume, therefore, stands alone as a theological resource, or it can be used to supplement a narrative work such as William Placher's own A History of Christian Theology: An Introduction (44963). Placher adopts an ecumenical approach, representing diverse traditions. Bibliographies enhance the value of this work as a theological resource. Volume 1 of this series is CBD stock number 40577.
