answer 2
David Platt is actively "going unto the world and preaching the gospel". If you look on his website of the church they have several out of country trips each month. His desire is to lead people to Christ which is hard to do if you just send money. He takes the next step and he goes and makes disciples. He is a true follower of Christ. Also, in the end of his book he has a one year challenge for those who have read his book. I am starting the one year challenge this year and excited to do more for the glory of God.

answer 3
Yes. Not specifically - but clearly yes. He gives examples of changes he has made in his personal life, as well as many examples from his "family of faith" - which he seems to refer to his church as. He also says the answers aren't easy - and they may be different for each person - but it's not a flimsy answer or call by any means. I loved this book because it was written humbly - and yet powerfully. It brought specific challenges, yet still encourages you to seek the answers for yourself and your family. I especially liked it because he ends with a one year challenge that is radical but not huge (at least not for me). He gets that it's a process to shuck off the lie we've lived most of our lives - and so asks us to look hard at it for a time and let God lead. Best book I've seen on the subject yet.

This book is clearly about attitude and the choices one can make to be a serious Christian. Finances are part of attitude and practice as a Christian. Finances are not discussed directly but are peripherally included.
