The daily lesson plan tells you how much of the text you should do each day to complete it in a school year. If the cd is formated that way then yes. I personally didn't purchase the cd rom. Hope this was helpful.

If you are talking about the multi-media companion CD, I would definately use the daily lesson plans. The companion CD is great and will help supplement the book, but you will still need the daily lessons to know which pages/how many pages to do each day. I have not used the full-course CD rom, so I cannot answer that.

I also purchased the CD rom! One of the neat things about home educating is that a child can work at their own pace. It is up to you and your family's schedule as to how you want to do your lesson plans. So to answer your question--you can use the lesson plan only if you want to! For us we just do a lesson each day. I am finding that a module is completed about every 2 weeks on average, depending on the subject matter. I also purchased the Apologia Lapbook. I had originally printed out every study question from the CD rom and put the pages into a binder for my child. Then I saw that there was an Apologia Lapbook to accompany the General Science! YAY! This is SO much better than answering fill in the blanks! Studies show that they retain the information better too! My child studies the lapbook questions before each test. Included is all the lab sheets to fill in their observations after doing the experiments. It is working out beautifully! Have fun!:)
