I would think a 7 or 8 yr old that can read well would love it, but even younger children could pick up a lot by just looking at the pictures.

That is a highly subjective question that depends on your beliefs about what the specific child can "handle." Can s/he handle the burning of Sodom and Gamorah? Although it is tastefully and gently rendered you might still consider it to be too strong for a specific child. Now if the child has been allowed to watch cops and robbers shows this Bible will seem tame. I bought it for two boys, ages 9 and 5, and they both love it. I personally would not purchase it for a child younger than 5 unless they were very mature for their age. My daughter, much to my astonishment, became a believer at the age of 31/2 and then refused to go to children's church from then on. I would have purchased it for her then but it wasn't available. The Picture Bible was so that is what I did purchase. Given the choice today I'd purchase The Action Bible.

If someone is reading the book to a child, 7 would be a good age. Little boys love the pictures which pretty much tell the story. But for reading, probably 10-12 years old

Although there is no reference to a specific Bible translation, each of the chapter illustrations in the Table of Contents refers the reader to the specific Book in the Bible. The specific Bible translation could be your choice, NKJV, NIV, NLT, etc. There is also a full Bible Book Index at the back of the book. It's a good graphic illustration and indepth read of The Greatest Story Every Told. I and my grandsons highly recommend this first ever picture Bible. There is also a great website for more information: www.TheActionBible.com

I was say its a paraphrase of NKJV. Sometimes its exact wording, sometimes not. Its all in a type of super hero comic form. I found it to be accurate in its theology.

answer 3
It's not really based on a particular version of the Bible, but it does follow the stories from a Biblical standpoint in comic book format. This is more to grasp the "bigger picture" of what is going on throughout the Bible. It is not meant to be quoted like other versions.

answer 4
There is no version cited, but in reviewing it the author cites where his stories come from in the bible (Chapter and verse). Some of the dialogue bubbles in the comic are not word for word from NIV or KJV, but they seem true to the word and the message of salvation in Christ alone.

I would think the intent of this Bible would be to capture interest and to encourage study in a "more traditional" Bible. There is not likely enough text to support or reject "truth".

Question

I need more information about the Action Bible. The Lord has laid an 18 year old deaf mute upon my heart to mentor. Because he cannot speak it's hard

to know how much he comprehends. He loves watching action movies and sports, so I was wondering if this would help him comprehend the price Jesus paid for him. Is this Action Bible both old & new testament? Does it come in a video?

answer 2
The Action Bible is both old and now testament. It illustrates a particular story (say Moses' birth and how he is saved from death) and then it gives the Scripture verses it is illustrating. I highly recommend it. As to whether or not it comes in a video format I do not know.

Yes, it includes both old & new testament. As far as I know, it does not come in a video.
But this is a wonderful, and exciting way to learn about Jesus throughout the entire bible. It's easy to understand and follow. The illistrations are exceptional!!! I think it would be very helpful for a young reader who cannot hear!!!

I am a pastor for deaf youth. First, just for information, "deaf mute" is no longer used. "Deaf" is the preferred term. I have given out a few dozen of The Action Bible to deaf students, grades 6-8, and they all love it! I'm pretty sure an 18 year old deaf man would enjoy it, too.

I purchased one for each of my four grandchildren, ranging from ages 6 to 15. They love it. The pictures speak for themselves and the words are there to help as well. The children really enjoy this Bible and it fits in well with this age of technologically astute group of teenagers and young children as well. I think he would very much enjoy this Bible.

The illustrations and style of writing are very similar. However, the "Action Bible" has 750 pages so it is able to cover more material than the "Good and Evil Bible", which has 324 pages.
