According to the sample of this product on Apologia's website it DOES include daily lesson plans. What to read when, what experiments to do, when to take tests, etc. Not only is there a separate schedule laying this all out, but each page at the top tells you what to read and do as you go through the notebook.

Question

What is included in the General Science Notebook?

Are there pages in the notebook with Study Guide questions and room to answer them for each chapter? Are the templates for the Lab reports like the ones in the younger books (ex. Zoology 1-3) or do they just have separate spaces to write paragraphs under vague headings like the Lab Report Apologia gives for the example online?

Yes there are pages in the notebook with Study Guide questions and so far we are in chapter two and my daughter has had room to answer her questions in the notebook. I am not sure what the lab reports are like in the Zoology series but is this book. But to give you a few examples of this notebook, .... Experiment 1.1 ... the first page has "Objective or Purpose" With plenty of room to write and is followed by the following headings "Hypothesis" , "Materials", "Procedure". Pg. 2 of Experiment 1.1 has a Data Table for the student to draw what the experiment looked like with the next page have "Results" and "Discussion and Conlclusions" headings for the student to write in. Experiment 8.1 has the same headings but the Data Table includes a chart for the student to complete. Experiment 16. 2 has the same headings with the Data Table having two fun cartoon eyes drew in the box and the student has to draw the size of their pupil in candle light and the size in bright light. So the Data Table range from each of the above examples depending on what the experiment is involving. Hope this helps!

answer 2
Yes, the notebook contains all of the study guide questions and optional summary questions with space for the students to write their answers.

The lab report forms are similar to the ones in the younger notebooks, but they are 2 pages or more, offering more room for students to record observations, etc. Data tables are also provided for several experiments. And there are forms for each experiment.

The notebook is designed to be used with the second edition, so the page numbers assigned for daily study will be different.

answer 2
Because of text changes we do not recommend using different editions together. Since changes between the first and second editions were minimal, you may be able to use this book with the first edition text by adjusting the order of a few of the assignments.

I would say it is OPTIONAL. Most of the material in the Notebook is in the textbook and CD rom.The Notebook contains a few "extras" like a timeline. I bought the Notebook to keep all the papers in one place and get the daily assignment schedule.

answer 2
The "Student Notebook" is not required to use this curriculum. It is a supplemental item that helps to organize learning and reinforce the lesson concepts. You would use it to accompany the CD-Rom in the same way that you would the book.
