Title: The Work of Christ: Contours of Christian Theology By: Robert Letham Format: Paperback Number of Pages: 288 Vendor: InterVarsity Press Publication Date: 1993 | Dimensions: 6 X 9 (inches) Weight: 14 ounces ISBN: 0830815325 ISBN-13: 9780830815326 Series: Contours of Christian Theology Stock No: WW5325 |
In The Work of Christ Robert Letham shapes his discussion around the threefold office of Christ as prophet, priest and king. Within this framework he explores the issues of Christ and the Word of God, the nature and theories of the atonement, and the cosmic and corporate dimensions of the mediatorial kingship of Christ. At crucial points the viewpoints of significant Christian thinkers, from the church fathers to contemporary theologians and biblical scholars, are introduced and brought into the conversation.
Lucidly written and clearly presented, this is a soundly orthodox and engaging presentation of what Christ has done. It is a welcome starting point for students of theology.
Robert Letham (Ph.D., University of Aberdeen), formerly senior minister of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, Delaware, teaches at Wales Evangelical School of Theology and continues as visiting professor of theology at Reformed Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., and adjunct professor of systematic theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. He is the author of a number of books, including The Work of Christ (InterVarsity Press, 1993), The Lord's Supper (2001) and The Holy Trinity (2004) (both Presbyterian Reformed), and Through Western Eyes (Mentor, 2007).
