Written by a veteran homeschooling mother of three, and built on the solid foundation of God's Word, each installment of the Weaver unit study curriculum is filled with everything you need to teach your children at home. The same daily Bible theme is used as a foundation, around which lessons are created for each student-allowing multiple students to study the same main subject at the same time with assignments geared to their grade level.
Volume 2 chronologically covers Exodus and the Books of the Law, and within this study, students will view the freedom of God's people and the beginning of the founding of a nation, as well as the covenant that God had with Israel. Into this foundation, studies on specific plant life of the desert and rain forests, river and fresh water systems, and American history 1650-1790 are integrated.
You'll find comprehensive, age-appropriate lesson plans for a full year of instruction in Bible, Social Studies, Science, Geography and History, Language Arts, Health, and Art (plus memory verses which may be used for penmanship). The program is designed so that any of the five volumes can be used for any number of students. The Weaver Curriculum is divided by Volumes and Supplemental Volumes. Volumes 1 through 5 (each sold-separately) are for grades K-6, and Supplemental Volumes 1 through 5 (each sold-separately) are designed for grades 7-12.
Pages are color-coded, and organized first by chapter, and then by grade. So for example, for chapter one, pink pages provide all the instruction for all Chapter 1 subjects to a student in 2nd Grade. The next set of pages is blue and provides instruction in all Chapter 1 subjects for Grade 3. Lessons are about a paragraph-to-a-page in length and feature an objective followed by an activity. Chapter 10 features 50 Bible lessons designed for multi-level teaching. It should take about one year to complete each volume. A scope and sequence, organized by unit, lays out the number of days, Bible references, and topics covered in each subject.
Scripture is from the NASB. 206 loose-leaf pages, with three-ring-binder included.
Please Note: Math, Grammar and Phonics are not included in this curriculum.
Some sold-separately resources are available to help with this program: The Day by Day planner tells you what to teach, when to teach it, and what you need to teach it. The Wisdom Words curriculum is an application method of teaching Grammar and Composition. The Weaver Teaching Tips and Techniques book provides information on how to teach each subject, with ideas and lists used in teaching. Resource books are optional, but are referred to throughout the program.
