The Hebrew letter ש (Shin), for stands for Shaddai and is on the front of a muzzuah's case. Shaddai, is one of the biblical names of God. Shaddai is also an acronym in Hebrew for Shomer Daltot Yisrael, Guardian of the Gates of Israel.
