Does it lie flat?
When you leave this Bible on the table and open it, does it stay open when it's flat? The leather Bible I have now flips closed and will not stay open.

Stays open, not 100% flat, but stays open brand new. I feel sure with some where that even yours will lay flat.

Do the pages smudge to the other side?
Do the pages smudge to the other side when a highlighter is used to mark sentences. I like highlighting certain scriptures with a highlight pen but dont like when it smudges to the other side of the page - highlighting where i didnt plan to.

Yes, there will be a degree of bleed-through when using a wet highlighter on the pages of this Bible. We recommend using a dry highlighter, such as WW9974 "Wordkeeper Assorted Dry Highlighters" for marking in this Bible.
