Endorsements

"This is by far the most interesting, encouraging, and applicable book on Ruth I’ve ever read. Liz is brilliantly profound as she makes the Bible come alive in a fresh, enlightening way. I kept finding myself saying, 'I didn't know that!' Plus, Liz's trademark wit makes this book so much fun to read. I give this book my highest recommendation." - LYSA TERKEURST, New York Times best-selling author of Made to Crave and president of Proverbs 31 Ministries

"Liz Curtis Higgs is one of the most amazing teachers of God's Word that I have ever experienced. Her in-depth knowledge of the Scriptures, gifting as a communicator, and personal relationship with the Lord make her unmatched in the ability to take biblical truth and make it applicable to anybody." - PRISCILLA SHIRER, New York Times best-selling author of The Resolution for Women

"Liz has a profound gift. She can pull back the curtain of history, and suddenly we are weeping with Naomi, kneeling beside Ruth, and celebrating a God who redeems our stories in outrageously beautiful ways. You will love this book!" - SHEILA WALSH, author of God Loves Broken People (and those who pretend they’re not)

"Liz is authentic, hilarious, and theologically substantive. Every time I have the privilege of hearing her teach or reading something she's written, I come away with a bigger, clearer picture of Jesus. Her new book about an Old Testament girl named Ruth-which is ultimately about God's redemptive affection for all of us-is a must read!" - LISA HARPER, author of Stumbling into Grace

"Liz's genius, sensitivity, and humor are reflected on every page. I've taught the book of Ruth many times, but, oh, did Liz introduce me to insightful, ancient cues that deepened what I thought I knew. You're going to fall in love with The Girl's Still Got It-and with Liz!" -JAN SILVIOUS, author of Same Life, New Story

"Liz Curtis Higgs has done it again! With her thorough research, spontaneous wit, and extraordinary attention to every detail of Ruth's life, Liz will have you laughing and crying at the same time while being challenged with poignant choices that apply to your own life. This book sings of hope, redemption, and lasting joy. I highly recommend it for personal and small-group study." -CAROL KENT, author of Between a Rock and a Grace Place

"I love Liz. I love Ruth. Put them under the same roof, and you have my full attention. Liz is the consummate storyteller, and Ruth is a woman with a story worth knowing. It worked for me. Big time!" -PATSY CLAIRMONT, author of Stained Glass Hearts

"Liz has certainly still got it! You'll laugh, learn, and love Liz's contemporary parallels to Ruth and Naomi. She brings them alive, vividly helping us identify with their hopes and hurts. Like us, they faced enormous storms, but also-and Liz makes this so clear-they learned to trust the Lord of the Storm. Liz's astounding research will teach you valuable history—yet all the while you'll feel like you are curled up with a novel." -DEE BRESTIN, author of The Friendships of Women and Falling in Love with Jesus

"Liz Curtis Higgs has taken this remarkable story and made it come alive! With delightful humor and well-researched insight, Liz presents Ruth's story as it truly is-the story of you and me. For we, too, have been chosen and deeply loved by a Kinsman-Redeemer who went to such extravagant lengths that he left heaven and interrupted eternity just to make us his own." -JOANNA WEAVER, author of Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World

"The first time I heard Liz Curtis Higgs speak, I fell in love with her wisdom, her grace, and especially her infectious laughter. It has been the very same for me with this book. She had me at the first sentence, bent over the pages, underlining like a crazy woman, writing notes in the margins, and laughing out loud along with her. Liz writes with the mind of a scholar, the heart of a novelist, and a beautiful wit. I cannot wait to huddle my girlfriends around our kitchen table and study The Girl’s Still Got It." -ANGELA THOMAS, author of Do You Think I'm Beautiful?

ChristianBookPreviews.com

The Girl's Still Got It by Liz Curtis Higgs is a Bible study of the book of Ruth. Higgs defines "it" as value, significance, vibrancy, and worth, with something meaningful to offer.

The preface, renamed "Before We Dive In," is important to read. Higgs explains why she thinks the readers "still got it," and exactly what to expect from the study. One point she makes is, "These women make things happen rather than wait for things to happen." A point I hadn’t thought of is, "The women are strong, and the men are mostly…um, weak."

The chapters of study are one part extensive research with abundant references in the back of the book, one part storytelling with sensory details like itchy sackcloth, and one part chatty girlfriend talk complete with honest self-disclosure and delightful humor.

A small warning to younger women: you may need to Google the Cleavers and Marty McFly. Other than that, what's not to like?

This study works well for either one woman with her morning cup of joe at the kitchen table or work desk, or a group of girlfriends meeting over cups of Starbucks's cappuccino. - Lynn Brown, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
