Publisher's Description

A devastating fire wakes up the Yadas to a new reality: God is on the move.

What I'd like to know is, why does God keep rearranging my comfort zone? It could have something to do with my Yada Yada prayer sisters, who aren't afraid to get in each other's faces and tend to expect big things from God.

But to move forward, sometimes we have to let go of what's behind. In spite of the loss of two dear friends. In spite of the breakup of a teenage love. In spite of the curse of HIV. In spite of prison time hanging over the head of a beloved child. In spite of fire consuming the hopes of those who have nothing.

Yet out of the ashes, God is doing a new thing! It's time for the Yadas to press on, pray on, and get rolling!

In the sixth installment of the series, the Yada Yada Sisters keep rolling with the punches in Neta Jackson’s novel, The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Rolling, as they lean on each other and, even more, on God. The women in this group are from a variety of age groups, ethnicities, and backgrounds, and they find themselves praying each other through the many struggles that come their way while still trying to make it through their daily lives.
Through the perspective of Jodi Baxter, the main character and Yada Yada Prayer Group veteran, readers watch hardships fall on many of the group members’ families. Florida’s son, Chris, has to face charges of armed robbery. Ruth tries to learn how to be a parent for the first time in her 50’s. Avis’ daughter, Rochelle, discovers that she has HIV after running away from an abusive marriage and getting away with her young son, Conny. These, along with many other untimely circumstances, cause the Yada Yada sisters to fall to their knees more frequently than ever before.
At times, this novel borders on the “land of the ideal.” Whether it’s because of the deep friendships formed between people from such drastically different backgrounds or Jodi’s unbelievable ability to find and reflect on something spiritual at every incident, the realistic quality of this novel can definitely be called into question. However, these model characters certainly do set a standard for us to live up to.
The novel starts off slowly, despite the vivid depiction of a fire at the local homeless shelter in the prologue, and doesn’t really pick up speed until about 100 pages into the plot. Once it takes off, though, be prepared to stay up all night because you won’t be able to put it down.
The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Rolling is an enjoyable experience. Any woman over the age of 25 will be able to relate to the characters and enjoy the storyline. Jackson brings up many great points about “looking for the possibilities” and making the most of opportunities, causing it to be an especially good choice for a women’s book club. While this is the sixth book in the series, the author does an excellent job bringing new readers in, but I would still recommend reading the first five novels. Of course, those who have already begun to enjoy this series will want to get reacquainted with their favorite characters and see what they’re in for this time. – Shannon Potelicki, Christian Book Previews.com
