Customer Questions & Answers for
Northampton Press Sighs from Hell: The Groans of a Damned Soul

It is no longer fashionable to speak about hell, but Jesus did, and he did so often. The Puritans did, and they preached on it often. They did so because they followed the example of their Lord, and they believed what he said about it. Moreover, they loved the souls of their congregants enough to warn them about the dangers.

In Sighs from Hell by the famous author of Pilgrims Progress, and first published in 1658, John Bunyan begins with the story of Dives and Lazarus. He argues that we should note that Christ did not call this story a parable, and Bunyan elucidates the plain and troubling meaning of the text. This timely piece is for all Christians are brings the realities we face apart from Christ directly to our attention.
