Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum has Scripture as its foundation, fully integrating biblical principles, wisdom, and character-building concepts into education. Students move at their own speed through the self-instructional "PACE" workbooks. Following the mastery approach, PACEs are formatted for students to complete the exercises found throughout the workbook, take a practice "self test," and conclude with a "final test" (torn out from the center) to measure understanding.
Students will learn the basics of higher-level math concepts, focusing on sets & logic, with School of Tomorrow's Basic Mathematics I curriculum. This set includes PACEs 1-10, and covers:
Sets, logic, functions, and mathematical systems. Sets, symbols, roster and set-builder notation in defining sets, with emphasis on identifying sets. A further study of sets: power sets, disjoint sets, intersection and union, relative complements of a set, and unary and binary operations. A completion of sets: (infinite sets) and an introduction to logic, defining statements, and quantifiers. A further study in logic: defining the truth as a statement, using a Venn diagram, identifying logically true statements, and logically false statements. Another study of logical reasoning: conditional statements, biconditionals, variations on the conditional, and tautologies. Deductive reasoning: the validity of arguments, theorems, indirect proofs, and invalid arguments. Relations and functions, with ways of representing functions, inverses, and special functions. The composition of functions and binary operations. Groups: definitions, proving theorems about groups, subgroups, and group generators. Isomorphisms of groups, rings and subrings, and integral domains and fields. Full-color illustrations incorporate maps and other skills, while fill-in-the-blank, word-bank, and multiple-choice type exercises help with review and retention.
Paperback booklets. High school & above. This resource is listed as "college" or post-secondary curriculum; parents may wish to consider for grades 8 & up. PACEs 1-10.
