Liturgical Press Toward a Trinitarian Theology of Liturgical Participation

Worship and sanctification are two sides of the smae liturgical coin. Liturgical language is characteristically atypical language in the human experience. In this sense, participation in the liturgy can imply an engagement with a milieu that is unfamiliar or, even worse, seemingly alien. In this engaging book, Gabriel Pivarnik unfolds the notion of participation in its many forms: metaphysical, soteriological, ecclesiological, and liturgical.

By showing the intimate interconnection between these various forms of participation and the Trinitarian narrative of salvation history, Pivarnik seeks to provide a working language for liturgy, that is, a viable starting point for reenvisioning the church's understanding of active participation within a Trinitarian framework. Such a connection is vital and points to one unmistakable fact: active participation in the liturgy that is rooted in the Trinitarain narrative is necessarily connected to the transformation of the believer in grace.
