Chaz McConnell realizes that his life is empty, and he has made it that way. He goes home at night to an empty, bare apartment. Trying to reach out, he befriends four-year-old Donovan, whose mother has fallen on hard times. Gloria Bailey finds it easy to care for families in need and when she sees a single, pregnant woman in distress, with no place to live, Gloria provides her own home. Although their personalities remain night and day, they eventually realize they have more in common than they ever thought.
