What was your motivation behind this project? I have long wanted to tell this family story. My generation and my children's generation know nothing of hardship and deprivation like those who survived WWII in Europe. Stories like these need to be told before they die out forever.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that people will understand what courage everyday citizens demonstrated and what true courage and faith look like.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I had the privilege of interviewing three Dutch men who lived through the Nazi occupation, two of them in hiding. Their faith through the entire situation amazed me. How could they praise God in the midst of such unimaginable trial? It brought me a deeper understanding of what trust in God looks like and what faith is all about.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My parents instilled a love of reading in me that I carry to this day. My fifth grade teacher encouraged me in my writing and gave me my dream. One of my favorite authors is fellow WWII author Sarah Sundin.
