Product Description

Highly skilled Search and Rescue (SAR) team leader, Honor Mackenzie, works almost as hard at guarding the dark secrets of her past as she does when training SAR dogs. As for widowed Sun reporter Matt Phillips, not even his former SAR work is as important as protecting his ten-year-old twin boys.

When a jumbo jet crashes outside Baltimore one cold night, their respective jobs put them face-to-face at the grisly scene--and force Matt and Honor to reconsider the difficult decisions that resulted in their long-standing "single forever" status.

Publisher's Description

Highly skilled Search and Rescue (SAR) team leader, Honor Mackenzie, works almost as hard at guarding the dark secrets of her past as she does when training SAR dogs. As for widowed Sun reporter Matt Phillips, not even his former SAR work is as important as protecting his ten-year-old twin boys. When a jumbo jet crashes outside Baltimore one cold night, their respective jobs put them face-to-face at the grisly scene--and force Matt and Honor to reconsider the difficult decisions that resulted in their long-standing "single forever" status. As Matt tries to come to terms with his feelings for Honor, he gets word that she hasn’t reported in since starting the search for a missing child. Reverting to his SAR training, Matt leads the search team as a vicious winter storm bears down on the area. Will he find her in time? And if he does, will they find their way back to each other or go back to living life alone?

In Honor Redeemed, Loree Lough captures the idea of seeking lost love, learning to trust, and trying to forgive. Honor Mackenzie is a young SAR (search and rescue) instructor, who, because of having endured a tragic emotional ordeal, has stopped trusting men. It isn't until Matt comes along that she begins to believe there may be hope for the redemption of mankind (and men, in general). Through a sad twist of events Honor and Matt are driven apart, but they still maintain a love burning in their hearts.

Honor is a woman struggling to get away from her past, but despite her best efforts she is haunted by memories. Although she is a brave woman with a strong sense of independence, bad memories keep recurring and causing her problems. Matt, on the other hand, is a widower with two kids. His wife died in childbirth and he still mentally blames her for giving up. Matt is a man driven by his emotions, especially his anger, but his raw feelings can only drive him straight to a lonely future.

Through her beautifully descriptive writing, Lough allows the reader to experience firsthand the world of a hurting young woman. Lough has readers on the edge of their seats, hoping to see love flourish between Honor and Matt. Despite a realistic ending that is not "happily ever after," the scenes of rescue and adventure will keep readers turning pages in desperate curiosity.

This book was good reading because it had lots of action, as well as deep spiritual issues that related to honor, duty, forgiveness, love, and service to others. As Matt and Honor experience their roller coaster ride of emotional highs and lows, the author forces readers to examine their own motives for dedication, devotion, and self-sacrifice. To that end, this book is both insightful and entertaining. - Nate Randolph, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
