Product Description

A blue-ribbon horse and a boy with Down syndrome teach Skye the meaning of love.

Joey Klingerman is one of the most loving kids you could ever meet, but Skye would welcome a lot less of his affection. This is Joey's second summer at Keystone Stables, and the outgoing boy has latched onto Skye as his "girlfriend." Skye finds his attention embarrassing and frustrating. To add to the frustration, Joey won't stop pestering Skye to let him ride her horse, Champ. Skye won't even consider it. No one rides Champ but her. What does God want her to learn about loving others-including Joey? With the Snyder County Horse Show drawing near, Skye is about to find out.

Publisher's Description

In the sixth book of the Keystone Stables series, perfect for girls who love horses and horse fiction, foster child Skye learns the true meaning of love when one of the returning campers with Downs Syndrome is insistent she is his girlfriend, and won’t leave her—or her beloved horse, Champ—alone.

Skye knows she should be kind to Joey Klingerman, and that he’s probably the most loving person she’s ever met, but his clinginess and insistence he and Skye are dating has become too much. Not only are his proclamations and "chivalrous" actions embarrassing, Joey won’t stop pestering Skye to let him ride Champ, her sorrel quarter horse. And while she knows it’s selfish, no one rides Champ but her.

Joey has an opportunity to compete at the Snyder County Horse show—but it could mean Skye sacrificing her own chance for a blue ribbon. As the competition nears, Skye prays for a miracle, either for Joey or her own hardening heart.

Blue Ribbon Champ:

  • is written by an author who has firsthand experience with horses and foster care

  • contains extensive back matter on different horse breeds, how to care for them, and horsemanship, as well as facts, diagrams, and a glossary of horse terms so girls can better know their favorite animal

Author/Artist Review

Author: Marsha Hubler
Located in: Middleburg, PA
Submitted: October 29, 2010

Tell us a little about yourself.  In my forty years plus of working with kids, I've had experience with all kinds from those who struggled with their schoolwork and behavior to those who seemed to always get everything right. I've also worked with special needs kids and the deaf. All of those years in education and foster care prepared me to write the Keystone Stables Series. So much of the stories are based on actual events. God equips us all to do the work He has called us to do.

What was your motivation behind this project?  My motivation was to share Christ's wonderful gift of salvation and his great love with my readers. He's always there for us.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I pray that the readers will either accept Christ as their Savior or determine to serve Him more faithfully with every passing day.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I personally saw how God can use a life that He has prepared to complete a work for Him. If you are willing to serve Him, He will give you all the talents you need to do the job well.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  My greatest influence is the Lord Jesus Christ. His Word, the Bible, also guides me with its truth. I am also encouraged by fans who write and tell me how they've enjoyed the books and how they want to live for the Lord because of reading the series. That's full payment and a great reward for an author like me.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  Matthew 22:37 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God wtih all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with al thy mind." Colossians 3:17 "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
