Questions & Answers for Lifeway Breaking Free Member book, Updated

Question

Can this be done without the DVDs?

I am wanting to do a Bible Study in a more informal setting without a DVD. I have done many Beth Moore studies this way, however, I know sometimes (such as with her "Daniel" study) she strongly recommends not doing the study unless you have the DVDs. Is that the case with this study? We just can't afford to buy more than the workbooks right now.

Update: God did provide a way for our group to borrow the DVDs! Although I love watching Beth Moore speak, and she definitely had some great things to add in the DVDs, the content of the workbook is so deep that I am sure we could have done without them. Very powerful study!

I've never done a Beth Moore study until now, and I don't have the DVDs. I am doing it alone with one other friend. I am finding it to be very helpful and am getting a good deal out of it. I do wonder if I just don't know what I'm missing though . . . you should wait to hear from someone who has done it with the DVDs too.

answer 4
Yes, it is possible to do the study without the DVD, if you have a good leader for the study. These are great studies. However, without the DVD you will miss the humor, little anedotes, and the encouragement given, 'to do your homework, and be excited about the study'. The savings might be worth trying without the DVD.

answer 5
Yes, you can. The workbook is powerful.

Our group watched them in a livingroom space: very informal

Do pray for the funds or that God would send your group the DVDs because they really do add a powerful element to the study. My husband and teen son watched a few of them with us and walked away changed!

Although the video sessions are an essential part of this study, it is possible to complete most of the study without using the DVDs, you would just have to skip the video session pages.

Beth states in the new Breaking Free series that she has updated much of the material and I believe that one lesson has changed completely. I'd get a new book.

We do not recommend mixing of editions. You could check the new edition's table of contents to see if the chapters still correspond, but even if they do, there may still be discrepancies.
