101 Probing Questions...101 Compassionate and Scriptural Answers

from Focus on the Family's Mike Haley

Almost daily we hear news reports that confirm the acceptance of homosexuality in our culture. Homosexuals are adopting children, appearing as characters on television programs, taking vacations catering to an exclusively gay clientele, and  even seeking the right to "marry" their partners.  But is this acceptance healthy for society?

Few topics can raise so many questions so quickly. And for many readers, those questions hit close to home as they learn of the homosexuality of a loved one or close friend.

Here are the answers to the most often asked questions about homosexuality, fielded by an expert on the subject...and a former homosexual himself.

Author Bio

Mike Haley is the former manager of the Homosexuality and Gender Issues Department at Focus on the Family where he now serves as program director for that ministry’s Raising Highly Capable Kids. In that capacity Mike works in communities helping parents raise healthy, caring, and responsible children. He has a BA in Christian Education from Biola University and a MA in Counseling from Liberty University. Mike and his wife, Angie, are the proud parents of two sons and make their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

With the obvious exception of the Bible, it isn't often that a book comes along that everyone in the church should be required to read. However, Mike Haley's book 101 Frequently Asked Questions About Homosexuality may be just such a book. Though not as in-depth as a psychological or medical analysis of the subject might be, this book is definitely solid in regard to biblical stances on homosexuality, and the response and position congregations should have and take on this very contemporary matter.

The book creates and answers key questions about homosexuality. The questions range from the basic ("What is homosexuality?") to the personal ("Our son has just told us he is gay, so what do we do now?"). Some of the questions tackle issues that are hotly debated in society, such as, "Isn't it better for homosexuals to adopt children rather than just leave the children in foster care or orphanages?"

Mike Haley has a distinctive perspective on all these matters because he was a former practicing homosexual himself. He knows both sides of the issues from a personal perspective. He points out that sarcastic comments from Christians, such as, "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve," close doors and cut off opportunities to witness to the homosexual community.

Haley's insights and lessons are based on intensive research, yet they are easy to read and understand. Any Christian who wonders what his or her actions should be in dealing with homosexuals should read this book and then spend time in prayer and meditation regarding this matter. -- Keith Osmun, Christian Book Previews.com
